GBR 735 Campaign

Dennis Watson and Kita Carpenter are teaming up aboard 49er GBR 735 (GBR 7). Dennis is the helm of the boat and Kita is the crew. Both are very experienced sailors as can be seen on the profiles. The partnership is fairly new but hopes to gain success at the up-coming National and European Championships for the 49er class. Dennis has been sailing the boat for a few years and Kita regularly crews 49ers at Grafham Water Sailing Club. After recognising the team potential through sailing a Laser 4000 together, pairing up in the 49er seems a logical and hopefully succesful step. The team aims to pair youth and experience together to provide a winning combination. Dennis and Kita are going into the campaign from a different angle to the general partnerships within the class by firstly being a Male/Female combination, when the class is predominately sailed by Males, and secondly aim to use their light weight combination coupled with good boat handling and tuning skills to gain the edge upon the fleet. By reading this campaign profile and you are interested in supporting our campaign, feel free to e-mail either Dennis at dennis_49er_gbr735@hotmail.com or Kita at kitacarpenter@hotmail.com .

Kita Carpenter

Date of Birth : 17/6/1990

Weight : 56 kg

Height: 5'1

Position : Crew

Sailing Club : Grafham Water Sailing Club

Sailing History : Kita originally started sailing within the Kestral class and from the start was gaining notable success within the fleet. Currently Kita sails her own Laser 4000 at Grafham water and regularly crews for 49ers at her club. Kita also sails within the RS200 and 400 classes. Within the 200, 400 and 4000 classes, Kita is rarely outside the top 5 in fleets of 30+ boats, and has won open events this year. Kita's activity within the many differing classes means that she is very apt to adapting to differing classes straight away and has a very wide knowledge about boats. Being able to be successful within many classes speaks volumes about Kita's sailing ability and experience. Appart from racing, Kita hopes to become a sailing instructor this year. Outside sailing, Kita aims to study law at University and become a lawyer. Kita can be seen sailing her boat in the picture below.

<<<<< GBR 735, The boat

GBR 735 was built by Ovington Boats in late 2002 or early 2003. After completion, the gel-coat was stripped off by RMW Marine and re-finished as they finish International 14s in two tone Silver and Blue. The boat was previously sponsored by Red-Bull and is currently looking for new sponsors. The boat meets ISAF standards, is fully class legal and is rumoured to be a little under-weight..........

Team work (well sorting Kita's hair)
